Hey!!!
This week has been pretty interesting. Lots of things though! Did you get the letter yet that I sent? It should come soon.
We went shopping at the market here in Gyeongsan here on Monday. It was incredible. It is exactly what you would imagine for an asian market. Stalls and tables everywhere with exotic foods, odd and fishy smells wafting through the air, people calling at you to come and buy their stuff, and tables laden with live fish and eels and seafood. Also, CHEAP GOOD CLOTHES. Let's play a game. You know one of the pics that I sent with me posing in our laundry room with a ridiculous amount of clothing hanging out to dry? Guess how much that dress was? Have a number? Got it? IT WAS 2 DOLLARS. Good quality too! Korean markets are the BEST!
Despite that sweet highlight to the week, the next day we were coming back from the district meeting and lost our cellphone. That definitely threw everything out of whack. We have pretty much been dependent on our area Elders ever since. We will get another one in a few days, but will lose it after a week and not have one for another month. That'll be fun. Oh well!
Linnea was sick again this week and we were not able to meet. Darn it! We did have another awesome lesson with a English Class woman that we meet with on other days. Her name in Nam Kyong Lee. She is hilarious and loves ping pong. She seriously whomped us all. While she has told us that she doesn't have much interest in the church, she loves to talk with us and I can tell that she feels something. We taught her last time about the Plan of Salvation, and she seemed to really think about it. I could feel the Spirit very strongly. While we are going slowly with her, I feel like we are really connecting with her. Hopefully we can progress more with her!
Our members are just awesome. We have gone to several of their houses this week for lunch or dinner, and I love talking with them. With what I can say that is. I have noticed that I am understanding a lot more though! One of the sisters we visited has a husband who is not a member but loves the missionaries. He sang some traditional Korean songs for us. It was so. cool. It sounded like one of those Buddhist monk songs. The members are so kind and serve us so much! We are just trying to get the work really rolling with them!
While doing our weekly service project we met a North Korean woman that had come here eight years ago. She is so nice! About 20 years ago she swam across the river with her family and lived in China for 12 years. Then she came here. It was kind of bizarre to listen to her. She had a strong accent too! Pretty cool.
Yesterday we baked more in the rice cooker. We made a pumpkin cake. Tasty! I am going to try to make breakfast cake today.
I am so grateful for a Heavenly Father who listens to and answers prayers. I was having a couple of hard days again this week and prayed a lot for help. I absolutely LOVE personal study and always felt so comforted from that. I can pray for help and immediately feel comforted. Also, I am so grateful for my companion who listens to the Spirit. She has been so kind and patient, and is a wonderful trainer! This gospel is just incredible!!!
Thank you so much for your examples! I love you all so much! While I was talking to Nam Kyong Lee about the Plan of Salvation, I really focused on eternal families. I am so grateful for this plan, and our Savior so that we can all live together again forever!
Love you!
