HEY!
First week of the new transfer! It's been a definite refiner's fire week, but it's been good! We have had a lot of people that we wanted to meet and had appointments with, but most of them couldn't meet last minute or punked us. However, it's made us more determined than ever to find and teach on the street, and we've been going through our records to find anyone we can to actually meet. Poor Sister Han hasn't even taught all the way through the Plan of Salvation yet her whole mission so far. We're gonna change that.
We've also been focusing a lot on strengthening our branch members. We visited a good chunk of them this week and even did some teaching and practices with some of them. Last week when we met with one couple from the branch, we decided to do a street proselyting role play with them. We role play proselyted to the husband and then they both gave us feedback when we finished. It was spectacular. The husband was pretty tough during the role play, but as we taught him he started crying. Their feedback was super valuable too. It was a really good experience, and we are planning on continuing to role play more with members. It can be a little scary to show them how we teach on the street, but it also is huge in gaining their trust.
We had another HUGE step with one of our less-actives. We meet with her every week, and while it is always really good she still hasn't worked up the courage to come back to church yet. This week we met with her once on Tuesday, and then talked with one of the members and planned a lunch altogether with us and the less-active. We could tell that the less-active was really nervous to meet with one of the members, but it turned out really well. Our member was so smart about it. She connected really well with the sister and slowly and naturally turned it towards the gospel and really hit the less-active's needs. Our less-active loved her and invited us all to come to her house next week. HUGE step. We are praying that as she starts to connect with members more that she will be willing to come to church.
We got a TON of contacts this week. It's good, but it also takes up a lot of time just contacting these people. And then many of them don't have time or want to meet, and several don't follow through lately. But we still find some good ones some time.
Another investigator came to church! She goes to our English class, but hasn't been able to come to church for the last couple weeks. She came for all three hours, and then stayed for lunch and a little more time to talk with us too. In the third hour, we did a little lesson with her and asked how church was. She told us it felt a little weird, a little awkward, but that she liked the gospel principles class a little more. We talked with her about it and about God, and committed her to pray every night, also setting up an appointment for the next lesson. However, after the lesson we still felt like she still felt a little awkward. Thank goodness for companions that follow the Spirit, though. The night before, Sister Han really wanted cheesecake and made one. However, on Sunday morning she felt like she should bring it to church for some reason. We did, and then after the lunch felt that we should share it with Lee Sae Chung (the investigator). We went into a little room in the church and ate the cheesecake, and it was PERFECT. Lee Sae Chung was laughing more and having a lot of fun, and really opened up to us. She asked more questions about the church and what we believe, and seemed really sincere about learning more. It was so good. We have another appointment with her to start the lessons this Thursday! Super stoked.
I love this gospel so much. I love being a part of bringing it to others and feeling the Spirit testify to them of this truth. Jesus is the best.
I love you!
